Be a Part of your Child’s Life
I am a mother of a 5-year-old boy and couldn’t agree more with Einstein! As parents, we know that our children are SO important in our lives. Although your child might play with other kids their age, recent studies show that parents having quality time with their children one on one is very important. Having quality time with your children helps to build a strong relationship between you and them.
By quality time, I mean being involved with your child. You as a parent will get to know your daughter/son better. There are so many activities you can do with your child that can help build a strong relationship with them too!
Some activities you can do are:
- playing outdoors
- reading a book
- dancing to music
- and many others.
One of my favorite things to do with my son is read a book about dinosaurs! After we finish reading the book we play with dinosaur toys, naming each dinosaur and what they eat. This helps my child and myself gain more knowledge about dinosaurs together, pretending to be dinosaurs after adds to the fun!
Having a strong relationship with your child will have so many positive effects in your child’s life and yours. When your child has a problem it will be easier for them to share it with you. Being involved in our child’s life can help you build a bond that will last a lifetime. A closer bond with your child can also help to reduce your own stress. Playing with our children makes us forget the problems we might have and simply live in the moment.
Don’t just watch TV with your child to make memories, try to do something fun and memorable with them! When your child is older they are are going to look back on all of those memories and will THANK YOU. They will appreciate the time and caring that you took to simply sit on the floor and play! You will NEVER regret being involved in your child’s life more. The best way to get to know your child is by simply playing with them.
Like Albert Einstein “Playing is the highest form of research.”
